Rainy Day

Filed under: seikatsu — myyearinjapan @ 2:42 pm

There were some violent thunderstorms today. There was an incident with some workers working on the sewer system. The 5 men in the manhole got swept up because the water came so violently and so quickly. At least 1 of the men died. (Asahi Shimbun article )

Another interesting bit of news, relating to how crowded Japan is. An escalator stopped suddenly because there were too many people on it. (Asahi Shimbun article) 10 people were hurt and a “Escalator Expert” they had on the news said that escalators are only designed to handle 2 people per step. This escalator was holding many many more than that limit.
