Lost in Translation Karaoke

Filed under: seikatsu, Tokyo places, Yamanote-Sen — myyearinjapan @ 3:17 pm

First off, I just want to mention that starting tomorrow, I will be traveling for about 5 weeks. Internet access will be sporadic at best for most of that time. But I will do my best to post pictures or at least write summaries of what I’ve been up to. I’m traveling to a bunch of places within Japan. That being said, back to our regular programming.

Some friends of mine scoured the internet to find out where they filmed the karaoke scene in the movie, Lost in Translation. It was a little pricey, being in the center of the city and having a nice view, but it was a fun experience to sing karaoke in the place where they filmed Lost in Translation. The place we went to was a Karaoke-kan, a karaoke chain with locations in major cities around the country. This one was in Shibuya, one of the hubs of Tokyo nightlife.

We first went to this store, which wasnt the right place. The karaoke place is a chain store and they have several locations very close to each other in Shibuya, where the place we went to is, right off of Center street.

The room is in a part of the karaoke place detached from the main building. Its on the 6th floor, the room with big windows and flashing lights.
