Kyoto (Kiyomizu-dera temple – Part 1)

As I wrote yesterday, one of the most famous temples in Kyoto is Kiyomizu temple (清水寺), which literally means ‘pure water temple’. It is one of the 17 UNESCO world heritage sites in Kyoto and also one of the most photographed places in the city.

You have to walk a good ways up a hill to get to Kiyomizu and this is the first part of the temple grounds that you see
